I was saddened to hear about the death of L'Wren Scott. She was a talented, top-tier fashion designer and stylist. Beautiful, famous, forty-something (she wouldn't tell her age) with a creative and glamorous career. She lived in a tony area of Manhattan. Her significant other was Mick Jagger.
The news reports say she took her own life. When this happens to people who seem to "have it all", I think we are even more shocked. Part of the thought process may be: she/he had everything to live for, to look forward to. How could despair win out over all the apparent joy?
We never do know, of course, what's in the mind of any public figure. I won't speculate on what troubles overwhelmed Ms. Scott. I just want to be sad for a moment, then appreciate her marvelous art. Then be very grateful for my smallish, but happy life, the supportive friends and family and good fortune as well. Rest in peace, Ms. Scott, and thanks for all the beauty.

From her most recent runway show, chic, businesslike shapes and pretty prints. |
|
Also from her recent collection. I love this Asian-inspired print. |

Her "Headmistress" dress was a favorite of celebrities, including Ellen Barkin, here. |
|
Gorgeous dresses from her "Bridesmaids" collection, 2011.
The ombre dress on the left is especially fetching. "Adult and alluring," fashion writers said. |

Nicely tailored, bold pieces that show off a woman's form. From 2010. |
Have a lovely day, and stay fabulous,
