Denim Cutoffs & A Trench: Creating Balance

This is probably one of my favorite outfits so far this summer.  As much as I love dressing up really feminine and glam sometimes, I actually prefer these edgier looks that have more of a casual vibe to them.  I feel like I am more in my element.

Shoes: Schutz [similar style] | Sunglasses: Zero UV | Bag: Apt9

When I wear a pair of short shorts, it's important for me to create balance with the look.  I think that one of the best ways to do this is by wearing a long lightweight trench, a maxi cardigan or even or a long kimono.  This keeps everything in check in the back too if you know what I'm saying!  By adding one of these pieces, you are also bringing a different element to the look and making it a bit more bold.  Sometimes a pair of shorts and a top can seem to simple on their own.  I've been obsessing over trench coats for quite some time now and you have seen me style tons of them over this past year or so.  I honestly cannot get enough of them!  They are also the perfect coat to transition into the fall season.

Lately, I have been all about these slouchy v-neck tops.  To be completely honest, my "off-duty" outfit typically consists of this tee or my white one with a pair of denim shorts and sandals.  It's just extremely comfortable!  I thought going with white would seem too obvious, so I opted for grey instead and really love the combo with the olive green.  I dressed it up by adding in these green snakeskin pumps.  I love how this pop of print is just enough and not too much.  It definitely helped to pull everything together.  Lastly, was my big messy bun that I was finally able to do!  Although now I cut my hair again over the weekend, so I probably won't be able to do this bun for again for awhile.

Happy Tuesday! <3
