CULOTTES LUXE TO LESS

I am contemplating culottes. So on trend at this very moment. An easy versatile piece fabulous on hiding the sins of the world in smooth coverage and silhouette. I was not in love with the culotte at first now I am sure I can pull them off as spring enters our zone. But i ma a shorty so the hemline is going to have to be just right before I fall in love and purchase these 'it' pants.

Culottes are similar to a midi skirt only that they are pants. They are currently on most peoples list. I remember owning a pair of Country Road ones back in the early nineties and I just loved them and swore them all the time.

As they are quite voluminous I recommend styling the just as you would a full midi skirt. Yu should consider -

Your height 

If you are tall then most lengths will suit you as long as they do not reach the ankle. If you are a shortie like me try to go for a length that is below your knee or fall midway on your calf.

Length 

They should sit mid shin, which is the point just below your calf. If they sit at the thicker part of your leg they can make you look shorter. If you absolutely love a pair that are too long take them to the tailor and have them altered to a length perfect for you. 

Wear them with

A simple top. A tailored shirt, striped tee or something fitted making sure that you tuck them in to stop you looking like a balloon. If you would like to wear a top out then cinch it with a belt for a different look.

For a tummy

Choose a pair with a thicker waist band to sit across your hips or on your waist. Be careful with pleats as they tend to add more volume than necessary.
