It's makeup Monday!
I partnered up with
Clinique for a special 2part beauty post. Today, it's all about getting the perfect summer lip shade, but let me take it back to a couple of weeks ago. I went to one of my local malls to visit the Clinique counter at Macy's and to get a full skincare and makeup consultation. I must admit that I have never actually received a skincare consultation before. I keep trying to think back to years ago and nothing pops into my mind. These consultations by the way are free for everyone with no purchases necessary. You even get to leave with a sample of your favorite product from the consultation. I met with Jessica and she seriously opened up my eyes so much and really helped with my specific skincare needs. My problem areas are mostly small dark spots that have formed from pimple scars. I always tend to get them in the same areas, around my mouth specifically on the left side. She explained to me that this is the most hormonal area on a woman's face, which is why so many of us tend to break out in those same spots. Makes total sense! She applied Clinique's 3-Step Skin Care System, which by the way is the very first set of skincare products that I ever used years back. She also introduced me to other products that I didn't know about like their Revitalizing Instant Facial (amazing!) and Turnaround Treatment Oil. I ended up leaving with a sample of their dark spot corrector. Here's an interesting fact that I honestly never thought about. Jessica told me, "In order for a dark spot corrector to work, you need to make sure that you are applying SPF to those areas first. If you don't and you head out into the sun, those spots will continue to be discolored." I will go into more detail on all of the skincare products on the second part of this post, but I just wanted to fill you in a little bit now. If you have never gotten a consultation before, I definitely think that it's worth your time. After we discussed skincare and all products were applied, we moved on to makeup!
I am pretty sure that by now you all know how much I love my lipstick! I am typically all about bold, bright and deep colors and I also appreciate a great nude shade too. When it comes to my makeup, I usually tend to keep my eyes simple and always pop out my look with my lips. Jessica noticed this right away when I met with her because I was wearing a bright pink shade. No surprise there. :) She showed me all of the Clinique Lip Pop colors and instantly selected a few different shades that she thought would compliment my skin tone. I love that there was such a big selection ensuring that there would be the perfect color for everyone. Their Lip Pop lipsticks have a rich and weightless formula that fuses bold color with a smoothing primer. It definitely felt moisturizing when applied, which is something that is important to me when finding the right lipstick. Sometimes my lips tend to peel and I hate that. The smoother the lipstick, the better!
The first one that she showed me, WOW POP, is my absolute favorite! It's a bright pink and the one that I am wearing in the first and second to last photos. I have actually been wearing this shade a lot lately and maybe you have noticed in some of my recent instagram photos. The color is great and it's long lasting. I just think that those types of pink shades work very well with my skin tone. I also really liked PUNCH POP & GRAPE POP. Those are the other two colors that I have on in the photos. They're a very pretty fuchsia and purple. The other two shades are LOVE POP, a shimmer raspberry and BARE POP, a shimmer nude. I like these colors also, but I am not so much into shimmer shades. Which colors do you like the best and what do you typically look for in a lipstick? I would love to know if you have already tried out Clinique's Lip Pop!
Hope you enjoyed this post and stay tuned for part 2 when I get into more detail about all of the skincare products. Happy Monday loves! <3
