What I Wore: Not Trying Too Hard (And Not Giving Up)

One of the many discoveries of retirement is: I don't dress as interesting-ly as I did when I went to the office. I make an effort to wear something nice for my voice lessons, and of course for dates with Sandy. Most days are easy-going, with reading, writing, biking, singing, and volunteering on the "schedule." But I don't want to "give up" on style just because I'm not seen by many people.

I've learned the hard way not to dress up for working at the thrift store. I get dusty, sweaty and marked with colored pens, so I wear my boyfriend jeans, a dark tee, and leopard sneakers on those days.

Today I chose a favorite old skirt from GAP (similar), a thrifted long-sleeve tee (sim), and very old Aldo boots (sim). These are the boots that I wear all over NYC, and they've been re-soled several times. They are heaven for walking and standing.

So black and gray and black - with a colorful scarf (sim) for relief. And my signature bracelet, and red lips. Not too bad for leisure time (it could be called "lazy toadstool" time as well).

This scarf makes a great wrap too, and a sarong for beach days.

Stay fabulous,

It's a special Visible Monday coming up this weekend! One of my favorite dress designers, Karina Dresses, has agreed to sponsor the First Visible Monday of the Month as a special Giveaway event. Not only is Karina providing the fab dress I'll be wearing, but they're going to give away a dress to a lucky reader. Every First Visible Monday - a Karina giveaway, that's good stuff.
