Saint Laurent Paris menswear Spring 2015
After years of flawless work, Hedi Slimane has fucked up. It was strange scrolling through the pictures from this collection and finding it difficult to pick pieces I even somewhat liked. Like Olivier Rousteing, Slimane was inspired by the 1970s. Unlike Rousteing, Slimane basically just reproduced 1970s pieces in more modern fits and paired them with skinny jeans. It lacks the originality, the edge, the sophistication, the clean design normally present in his work. It’s lazy work, near-photocopies of thrift store finds. How could he follow up that wonderful vampire varsity jacket with this?
