Anyone who's read my blog knows I am no cutting-edge fashionista. I "borrow" ideas, shop at thrift stores, and rarely read a fashion magazine. I still love it, though, when the runway shows are thoroughly covered in the
New York Times. There's a
slide show for each designer's collection, whee!
I am about half way though the collections. I chose some looks I think could be adapted to real life. That means: for a woman not 6 feet tall, 19 years old, or with an unlimited budget.
And since the designers are showing Fall/Winter 2014 now, we can borrow some ideas to wear right away. Fashion seasons are crazy.
Here are some looks I like:
- Cropped trousers. These are tricky for non 6-footers, but I think I can work it at 5'6". Footwear and the whole silhouette matters when you're wearing short pants.

From J. Crew. I also like the texture of these trousers, and the brilliant red coat. I don't do serious heels,
so I need a cool shoe. Any suggestions are welcome. |
|
Also from J. Crew. I don't know if I like the cuffs, but the color and cut of these
trousers appeal to me. Cute cropped jacket, too. |
- Subdued florals. I love these subtle florals - prints that look grown-up but add interest to an outfit.
|
By Tory Burch. Ladylike with a little bit of fun. I saw these over-the-knee socks everywhere!
Cute and sassy, but not for me. |
|
From Badgley Mischka. For a dressy affair, I like this print. The dropped waist was a popular look, too. |
|
By J. Crew. Her scarf looks like it's going to strangle her, but the skirt is adorable. |
- Re-runs of styles I like: moto style jackets, zippers, booties, all-black-outfits, and subtle plaids. This might be my favorite plaid look:
|
From Vera Wang. A fabulous menswear-look coat over a slightly contrasting plaid skirt. Great brooch.
Fabulous gloves. Very unhappy model-face. |
See anything you like?
Have a happy Thursday, and stay fabulous,
