I would describe my wardrobe as quantity over quality. It makes me a bit sad because although I love having lots of dresses to choose from, I know deep down that I should start investing in better made pieces that will last and last. I am trying – I’ve been buying posher shoes, and my coats are no longer £20 specials, but I keep looking at my workwear wardrobe and worrying that I still dress like a little girl.
I kind of DO, to be honest.
For the longest time, my workwear style icon has been Andy from The Devil Wears Prada – post makeover, of course. I haven’t seen the film in a couple of months, and have just about convinced myself to grow out my fringe, but I know that if I watch it again I’ll be straight down the hairdressers begging for my eyebrow grazer to return. As well as the super glossy hair though, Andy has got her office style sorted. I mean, I know that it’s not HER style... it’s all Stanley Tucci and his Magical Wardrobe Of Dreams.
Emily and Miranda aren't so bad either - that coat is FIT, Priestley.
The Devil Wears Prada always gets me excited about my winter wardrobe. Opaque tights and short skirts and knee high boots – YES PLEASE. I’m almost sad it’s still so warm because I am ready to get involved in some serious DWP style. Thankfully cardigans, such as these from Hobbs, have helped to bridge the gap – it always amazes me how they remain the perfect accompaniment whatever the weather!
Anyway, here are some grown up workwear items I’m dreaming about at the moment from Hobbs....
